COMPETITION FOR STUDY PLACES 2008
The George Endres Memorial Trust
invites applications from qualified teachers of English to participate in a postgraduate refresher course for English teachers at Teignmouth in Summer 2008. The course aims to improve the participants’ language and teaching skills, and to provide opportunities to collect source material to assist with their teaching in their own schools.
Conditions:

The applicant must be under 45

He / She should have at least three years' continuous teaching experience in a recognised secondary school
(i.e. not in a language teaching establishment) -
A letter of recommendation (in English) from the principal of the school

A photocopy of the degree or the highest teaching qualification attained during the last year of their course

A handwritten essay (not longer than 500 words) on either of the following two topics:
“ What I want to learn about Britain ” or
“ Why do people on the Continent call Britain England? ”
* The applicants should also give details about previous visits to English-speaking countries.
* The course will take place in July/August 2008 and will last up to 2 weeks followed by a 3-day stay in London; all expenses will be paid by the Trust, including return air fares from Budapest to London.
* The Trust will not enter into correspondence with applicants or others, but the short-listed applicants will be invited for an interview in Budapest in March/April 2008.
